Everything2: hide links in writeup text

Hides links' styles (only in the main content, the writeup text) so they're less distracting. They appear again on hover. 20100531: now works with redesign

Firefox Chrome: Autohide Status Bar

This style is a quick way to autohide (reappearing on hover) the status bar. It leaves a 1px border to trigger :hover (the default color is ButtonShadow, which looks fine on a native-colored theme on Windows). Useful companion extensions to a hidden status bar: "Fission" for progress in the address bar, "Handy Xtra Stuff" for displaying attribute values in tooltips I needed this because I discovered that the Greasemonkey button for the Custom Buttons² extension required the GM status menu, and the status bar it's on, to not be hidden; which defeats the purpose of moving status buttons into the toolbar in order to replace them. Now, the status bar is out of the way, but quickly accessible, and all its menus can be appropriated as necessary (I'm looking forward to breaking some things with UserChrome.js in the same way). (In the end, I added code to the button move the popup menu to the toolbar so I can hide the status bar properly.) (20090129) To erric1234: No, you can't d

Firefox Chrome: DownThemAll: text-only toolbar

This removes button images and the background from dTa's download manager's toolbar, minimizes the surrounding space, and gives each button an outset-on-hover and inset-on-active effect. Optional effects, commented out by default: - reduce the toolbar's font size (which makes it even less thick) - hide the "Help!" link in dTa's download manager's status bar Updated (20090201): help link gone: removed code to hide it; donate button moved and makes the toolbar very wide: hide it again Updated (20080608): works with current layout

Google Autohide Dots: Search and Account Options

Collapses the search options list (links to apply current search to web, images, maps, etc) and account options ("sign in" or user name) when not hovering over the dots in the upper corners of the page. It works on a variety, if not the majority, of Google search sites, so it's applied to the entire google.com domain. (To minimize Google's search interface, try Google Text & Image: slim header, wide results, which is compatible with this one.) Started (20080904)

Google Reader Mobile: clean and beige

Google Reader Mobile (google.com/reader/m/) is an HTML-only version of Google's web-based feed aggregator designed for small screens, simple browsers, and minimalists. This style rearranges and beiges its interface. The "see original" link is on top of the article title, with hover effects to remind you. When the list is empty, "No items to show." is displayed.
