Styles
This style tweaks the BetterSearch "preview" box. It changes: 1) the margin color 2) the border size and color 3) width and height The width and height are set for the search results (indented and unindented) as seen on a resolution of 1680x1050. I might suggest that you play around with these values to better suit your needs, especially if you have a screen resolution different from that. I might suggest that you apply this in combination with one of my other styles Google (search results) - widen results, which does not break this style's layout. BetterSearch is a fantastic Firefox addon, but it adds goodies to Google search results without regard for the filetype of that search result. This style removes those elements that are inappropriate for that particular filetype (odt, pdf, etc). For example, a "preview" of a .doc file will launch a download command (and NOT show a preview), but a preview of a pdf works just fine. Enjoy! ...and as always, please leave comments. This style does two things to improve the way the BetterSearch extension renders on Google search results: 1) Removes redundant BetterSearch thumbnails, for when BetterSearch adds a thumbnail preview to a result for which Google already shows a thumbnail of that video (i.e., YouTube, Google Video, Break, DailyMotion, etc). I hope that makes sense - if not, it should if/when you see one of these search results. 2) Resizes the Google generated thumbnail for 1) music specific results, and 2) video specific results (i.e., same results as #1, above). This style changes the cursor as it hovers over link to various social bookmarking sites (i.e., digg.com, slashdot.org, reddit.com, etc.) Enjoy. (7/23/07 - updated links to Fark)
When the "filter" option is used in CustomizeGoogle (a wonderful extension, by the way), the filtered results are replaced with a line of text alerting you that a result has been removed. Originally inspired by Google Search Results Filter, the purpose of this style is to ENTIRELY remove ALL filtered search results; if I intended to filter a specific site, I don't necessarily want to a giant hole in the layout of search results. This style takes care of that, removing any trace, all without breaking the layout of the page. Also, you do not have to update your "list", as there is no "list," as there is in Google Search Results Filter. This style replaces the icon for attachments in Gmail. Like others before this style, it changes the standard paperclip icon to an icon that reflects the filetype of that attachment. However, unlike previous versions, this version sets the icon to whatever your particular system's default association for that filetype is (with 2 expections). For other peoples' previous versions, please see: Gmail with different attachment icons, GMail Attachment Icons Lite, Gmail - Icon for Encrypted S/Mime Messages, Gmail - Icon for Digitally Signed S/Mime Messages, and Gmail with different and bigger attachment icons.
