This really must be popular.....I got this when I went to the page
"This Account Has Exceeded Its CPU Quota "
And all the images in my Gmail are gone....
To bad, I love this skin....I hope that it comes back soon *****

wizard04 said on Aug 11 2008

It's not dead. The site went down this morning just after I downloaded the new version. It must be too popular ;-) It's too bad that many of the images are on their site; I have to turn the style off while it's down. *****

"Nothing to see here. Go to http://www.globexdesigns.com/gmail"

is this style dead? no more code, and the globex site is down. *****

I also have the same problem as Glimfeather even after updating *****

VAR1016 said on Jul 31 2008

Glimfeather: the reason for this is that it has been updated. Right click on Stylish, click on Manage Styles and then select Find Updates.

This has worked on one of my computers, but on the other, no update appears: I should like to know how to solve this, otherwise I am stuck with BBBBBBBetc! *****

Glimfeather said on Jul 30 2008

This "Redesigned" Style is absolutely GREAT!!! I like it so much better than the default style. I wish that you could have this interface every time I log in (and every computer).

Only problem I have found is under Compose message. Every font and link option is labeled with a "B" for bold. If that one little issue could be recoded, it would be an 100% increase in appearance and productivity. (Especially combined with the subfolder options)

Great job guys! *****

Hiya,

I really really like your redesigned version of GMail, nice, easy on the eyes but now that I've updated to the 3.0.1 version now I'm getting all sorts of little strange things with your add on. The Compose area shows nothing but bold "B" instead of the normal options that appear above the area where one writes their letter. In the Filters area under Settings, when you choose to make a new Filter they GMail interface is ON TOP of the area that has all the input boxes to create the filter so you can't create the filter 'cause you can't see the boxes to type into them. Hope that makes sense.

I would be very very nice to have some color scheme options as well. I'm more partial to this sort of green: #6D8338

Just a suggestion.

thanks

Richard A. ****

I'm having the same 'problem' that Mardorr is having. The Inbox label or any custom labeling assigned to an email contact get's pushed below the Subject line of the email. Here's a screen cap of what I mean.

http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/1327/gmailscreencapik0.jpg

As you can see from the screen cap the labels are pushed below the Subject line and somewhat behind the box contents of the email thing. *****

Looks like google updated page width again when replying.. Can this please be fixed. This is at 1280x1024 resolution which is pretty much the standard now.. Thanks!

Screenshot: http://img381.imageshack.us/img381/7660/replymy9.png

And page height is off now a bit too. That is when making a new message or reading a message that should fit on the screen its off by just a little bit. That is, there is now vertical scroll bars.

Snicker, indeed would be nice if could be cleaned up a bit.. 40 lines with line 40 as 1 giant line.. *****

Just perfect, I don't tend to pay for software, but if you guys or anyone came up with a program that could "skin" websites in a professional way like this, I would buy it. I love dark themes and this one, although not exactly dark is still really cool. I'm tellin ya if there was a program where you had maybe 5 different professional, working skins for pages like youtube or wikipedia, I would pay for it, or donate if it was open. Someone go and do it, please. I would, but I am stupid and can barely turn this computer on. Thanks again. *****

So beautiful !

By the way, there is a small problem with toolbar buttons (Archive, Report Spam, ...), the "more actions" list and refresh buttons. The width/height of the normal and hover state is not quite equal (the "second" border is missing)
I made a simple fix, just add:

border-width: 2px !important;

for the :hover state of these buttons, it works fine (sorry I don't remember the css classes used for them)

Thank you for this great work !

*edit, May 6*

I don't know what you made with the 2 last updates, but the CSS file has no new line (everything is on a single line), no indent and no comment. What happened ? Maybe you should fix newlines for readability. Sorry I didn't see there was a dev version...

By the way, the correct URL for the dev style is http://www.naverniouk.com/design/gmail/gmail_dev.css

SleepingGhost <

1: No, except "rich formatting" button (rich editor turned off) goes a bit off its bar.
2: Can't test.

(Maybe the official one too)

Just a little suggestion:

As everyone else has stated, this is an awesome still, and I love it, I use it across 4 computers, so manually updating it got to be a pain. You can have it automatically update to the latest alpha version easily by just opening up the stylish.rdf file in your profile folder with a text editor, searching for RDF:about="http://userstyles.org/styles/5867", then changing the line after that, which should start off stylish:updateURL="http://userstyles.org....", to stylish:updateURL="http://www.naverniouk.com/design/gmail/gmail.css". Again though, great style, hope to one day be able to have the same style for Google Reader *hint hint* *****

Small problem with this last update: now all email text, while reading, is being set to black, even when you're reading an HTML formatted email with different text colors.
That makes my boss pissed at me because "the company name must always be in orange, not black. Blah blah blah blah". I know is just on my screen, but he's not very good on the whole "comprehension" aspect.

And I see the update log saying about main menu icons... I did notice the menu options shifting a little to the right when I updated the style, but no icons are being shown.

I must say that, while I love the style and don't really see myself without it anymore, it does make the whole interface a little less responsive, at least on this crap-tastic computer I'm using. It's more when scrolling that everything seems slower, but it's not a deal breaker. Just thought I should point that out.

As always, thanks for making my work easier on the eyes. ;)

To manually update your style:
* Open the link on this page for the desired stylesheet (alpha or latest stable; I think they are currently the same); Select All and copy to the clipboard
* Right-click on the Stylish icon (should be on the bottom right of the Firefox window) and select Manage Styles; or go to menu Tools > Add-ons, then Extensions tab, select Stylish from the list and click Options.
* At the Manage Styles window, select Gmail Redesigned (by Globex Designs), and click the Edit button
* Select everything on that window, and paste the updated CSS over the previous code.
* Click save, and go have fun. ;) *****

It is nice to view the ones that have unread mail in very quickly without having to focus on reading each label individually.

I agree. Very good. I look for updates everyday. Keep up the good work.
Today's update has the "the label has been removed" banner that will not go away and overlaps all the other buttons in the vicinity.

I live by the Better Gmail macros, but so far they seem to be working well with the script.

I have only one other style going, that is, to move the "printer, forward all, new window" etc to the top of the open email to gain the space on the right hand side. The colors are wrong with your color scheme though. I'ld love to see you take a crack at that since you really have an eye as to how it should all go together.

Again, keep up the good work!!
Thank you. *****

I like this style very much. However I wonder if the font colour at the side button (inbox, etc) and the "send", "save now" can be darker. I guess it provide better contrast with the button background. thanks a lot. ****

i like this plugin a lot, thanks :)
But..., ...i´m actually using gmail in spanish because i´m trying to improve my spanish and the style doesn´t work :( i´m sure you are working hard on it ;)
So, if i can help you, i´d do as well as i can.
Thanks again :) *****

Not sure if this is just me or not, but when I send a link in the gmail chat, it's yellow, and looks good, but when someone sends me a link and I click it, the link goes back to the purple that is hard to read. not sure if this is just me or if its fixable. ;) looking great!!! *****

The task toggle on RTM shows up scrollbars (apparently text size has nothing to do with this bug) and causes scrollbars in place of text. In Compose/Email, the same effect occurs when entering text input in the TO: section. This requires reducing font size under 12px, which is way too small for me to view.

Your design updates are fantastic and I am actually encouraged to use my gmail web interface over thunderbird. Good job, Ev! *****

Updated to the latest version, still getting the reply box not opening up fully. Only way to work around this is to pop out the email reply. Have an old version (4/4) and the problem doesn't exist there. *****

ian320 said on Apr 07 2008

Not sure if this helps, but I get the Reply bug as well, and I noticed that if I hard refresh (Ctrl+F5) the reply box shows up. Also, another workaround is to click the popout box to compose in a new window. *****

Very sharp. I'll keep my eye on this one. Thanks! *****

Theberge43 said on Apr 07 2008

Hi still a great theme ... !
Little bug the "Reply to All" button isn't wide enough.
Also, I can't write when I hit Reply, the text input doesn't expand enough.
Another thing : When I hit reply, and then the popup window button, the info of the email (email, subject, previous email) doesn't show in the new window. *****

I love this redesign - except I can't access my Contacts. There's just a big blank white space where my Contacts should be! ****

It's possible to make that same style to other language ?? Example Polish ??

The labels area is nearly illegible on my laptop screen; the text is too light for the background. I changed it by modifying the appropriate section to use #515151.

This looks fantastic and as one who spends a lot of time in front of the screen and having configured any windows I can to dark themes this makes long term viewing much easier on the eyes.
I have disabled the better gmail extension as suggested by the author and do not have the remember the milk extension but your theme only displays on the login to gmail page and not in the mail page itself. Are there other incompatible extensions? Though in Ireland I have my gmail prefs set for US English (to allow use of IMAP) so that is not the problem.
5 out of 5 for style and helping me preserve my eyesight. Thank you. *****

Great skin, couple of problems though:

1. Settings area still has old look
2. Gchat windows still have old look

I am guessing you will be working on both of those in the future, otherwise, it is amazing *****

Mike.Showtime said on Apr 03 2008

First off, thanks for all of your effort on this gmail skin. It beats the hell out of any of the skins I've seen so far. This would be a definite 5-star, but it has 2 somewhat minor problems:

1. as mtrichards said, the domain version of gmail does not display the upper-lefthand links (start page, mail, calendar, documents, sites, etc.) as skinned
2. it seems to eliminate the package tracking and address mapping features that appear at the right when you have a tracking # or an address within the body of the e-mail. This is one of the cooler features of gmail...would be great if those could be kept in while the ads are kept out (or have an option to display that righthand bar since better gmail 2 also filters those ads but not the tracking/mapping links) ****

Killer update to Gmail's appearance. I hope updates can continue as this style is really nice on the eyes! Great work. *****

Maybe to remove comments inside the code ( that'll save you some space ) and link the 'full' version as external page inside description for those that would like to understand it better. *****

The style is great. One problem though, the compose email window isn't changed and looks odd. See screen shot: http://screencast.com/t/yw7I6xVR ****

Very professional look. (Google apps work well but tend to look amateurish in my opinion)..One think I had hoped for was to get rid of the popup when the mouse is over the sender name, but I see that you have already redesigned that box. Would your redesign make it any easier for me to do that for myself (and anyone else who wants it?)..I am impressed with what you have accomplished since I started looking into getting rid of the aforementioned popup and found that the Gmail page is indeed very complex. *****

m&m_limited said on Apr 02 2008

The bodywork is elegant ; once the engine will fit, I'll take it !
EDIT : about the engine : seems I've taken for granted others' comments : no problem here now that I've tried. Beautiful, makes we wonder if I should keep on downloading Gmail on POP3 ... :)

EDIT 2 : Getting better and better! I did notice a slight problem when composing mail : the background has the color of my about:blank page (dark in this case). Any way to keep that background white? Thanks! *****

mtrichards said on Apr 02 2008

Thanks! This is awesome. Only issue I have is that on the Google Apps for my Domain version of gmail the links at the very top are not formatted. Check it out: http://www.mmrichards.com/tmp/gmail_hdr.jpg

Really nice, but Remember The Milk is sort of a deal-breaker. And the stupid web clips thing was still unchanged. Otherwise awesome. ****

Jeffrey said on Apr 01 2008

beautiful redesign! just what i've been looking for! Have you looked at including styling for the Remember The Milk sidebar (which is a firefox extension)? I use that extension and it's pretty much illegible with the redesign turned on. Everything else looks GREAT! *****

Will you let to use this style as a userscript with Greasemonkey?

PS: And....the 'save' button is missing in Settings :> *****

Alec said on Mar 26 2008

I'm very impressed. I think what remains are to change the color schemes of the Contacts sections.
Is there a way to modify the color of the "Loading" text background?

This is a difficult site to remaster. I think what you've done so far is very thorough and internally cohesive. I also like that your color modifications haven't created the same ugly effect around the "stars" like many other styles do. *****
