In Thunderbird 3.0 there is the panel "Plugin" in Addons Manager Window (Tools -> Addons), this style remove the Plugins panel (plugins are not used in mail).

In code comment there are info to remove the other panels in Addons Window (I don't know a good reason to remove them)
